
Chung-Ang University has joined hands with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (President Joo Han-gyu).
The 'Academic-Industrial Exchange Agreement Ceremony between Chung-Ang University (CAU) and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI)' was held on the 6th (Thursday) at the President's Conference Room on the 3rd floor of Building 201 (Main Administration Building).
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), including President Joo Han-gyu, Director of the Nuclear Safety and Base Technology Lab. Choi Gi-yong, head of the Environmental Safety Technology Research Division Ji Young-yong, and Lead Researcher Jeong Woo-hee, as well as Chung-Ang University representatives such as President Park Sang-gue, Vice President for Research Seong Maeng-je, Provost Park Kwang-yong, Director of the Office of Research Jang Hang-bae, Professor Jeong Dong-wook from the School of Energy Systems Engineering, and Professor Yoon Yoo-sik from the School of Medicine.
This agreement was made with the intention of promoting mutual research collaboration based on the excellent talent and infrastructure of both Chung-Ang University and KAERI. Through this, the two institutions plan to collaborate in various fields, including ▲securing research projects through the planning of joint research tasks and the execution of interdisciplinary research projects, ▲mutual cooperation for the cultivation of skilled professionals in science and technology, and ▲collaboration in nuclear and energy policy research to promote the global use of nuclear energy.
Chung-Ang University and the KAERI plan to expand cooperation into global key research areas such as new materials, AI, and next-generation vaccines, based on research fields such as nuclear safety and proton science,
after discussing the details through the operation of a joint steering committee in the future.

Joo Han-kyu, President of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, stated, "Given the need for carbon neutrality and the expansion of AI, at a time when the expansion of nuclear energy is expected, we look forward to continued exchange and collaboration with Chung-Ang University as a strong partner in the development of new technologies for the safe and diverse utilization of nuclear energy and in human resource development."
President Park Sang-gue stated, "We are also very pleased to have reached an agreement with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. We look forward to the continued exchange and collaboration between the two institutions to achieve the goal of Chung-Ang University’s growth as a Convergence-based Research-Oriented Institution.
We promise full support for the efficient exchange between the two institutions and hope that the collaboration will expand beyond nuclear research to include fields such as biotechnology and defense industry.
