The CAU Global Week of the 2023-1 semester took place from May 15 to 18.
The CAU Global Week is a global festival that exchange students from overseas partner universities gear up for, featuring a range of events including a global seminar and global fair. The global seminar was held on the 15th and 16th, followed by the global fair on the 17th and 18th.
The event kicked off with an online global seminar in which exchange students from the United States, France, Australia, Germany, and Singapore participated. The international exchange students introduced their home universities and CAU students who had studied in those universities as exchange students shared their experiences.
The other highlight of the event, the Spring 2023 CAU Global Fair, was held at the square in front of Hall 310 (Centurial Hall) under the theme of We, Re-connected. At the fair, exchange students, both invited and visiting students operated their own booths, promoting their universities and home countries.
In addition to the overseas university booths, various other booths such as program booths and special stages were set up to provide practical information about overseas universities. The Office of International Affairs also organized a dedicated booth to address questions about the exchange student program.
This global fair, held in person for the first time in four years since the COVID-19 pandemic, attracted great attention. Around 200 exchange students from over 85 universities across 30 countries had the opportunity to engage in cultural exchange and interact with the CAU students, which showed the global aspect of the CAU campus.
Furthermore, the Global Ambassador (GLAM) gave a helping hand to create a rich and vibrant event. Programs such as Glam Arcade (Celebrity Quiz) and Buddy-Ting were prepared to facilitate interactions. Also, the stage program, led by GLAM, provided a platform for both exchange students and CAU students to showcase their talents.
In the meantime, President Park Sang-Gue visited the Global Fair on the 17th, exploring the booths, and expressing his support and encouragement to the students. In return, the exchange students presented carnations and rolling papers as tokens of appreciation to commemorate Teacher's Day.
President Park remarked, "I am delighted to be able to hold a face-to-face global fair after such a long time. I hope that Chung-Ang University can further develop into a global university through harmonious cooperation. I will support and encourage you to have extraordinary experiences in your lives."
The CAU Global Week event will also be held in the second semester. The Office of International Affairs expressed their hope that students who were unable to participate this time will have the opportunity to join next time.
