The president of Chung-Ang University, Professor Sang-Gue Park, signed a general cooperation agreement with the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (hereinafter, SUNY Buffalo), the Flagship university in New York on 31st July. The agreement was signed during President Park's visit to SUNY Buffalo with the President of SUNY Buffalo, Professor Satish K. Tripathi.

SUNY Buffalo, established in 1864, is the flagship university of New York with approximately 30,000 students and 3,000 faculty members. It is a research-oriented institution ranked around 301st in THE rankings.

Alongside the signing ceremony, a seminar was held to discuss cooperation areas and strategies between the two universities in details. The seminar was chaired by Nojin Kwak, Vice Provost for International Education at SUNY Buffalo, and attended by the Deans and key officials from the School of Architecture and Planning, Graduate School of Education, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Public Health and Health Professions, School of Social Work, and the College of Arts and Sciences. They engaged in extensive discussions on research and educational cooperation with Chung-Ang University. Both delegations agreed to actively pursue collaboration in research and education, beginning with student exchange programs and further expanding to research collaboration. Moreover, a student exchange agreement will be discussed shortly based on the general cooperation agreement.

Through this MOU, the research collaboration can be promoted between two universities. In addition, CAU students can have more chances to study in the esteemed university as the partnerships which have been focused on the Western US expanded to the Eastern US.

President Park mentioned that "It is a profound honor to visit my alma mater, where I earned my Ph.D. 34 years ago, to sign this agreement. I look forward to vibrant joint research and student exchanges in fields such as pharmacy, social work, arts, and architecture and planning".

President Professor Tripathi also shared his thoughts, stating that "We warmly welcome President Park back to SUNY Buffalo. We are deeply proud that SUNY Buffalo alumnus now serves as the President of Chung-Ang University and the Chair of the Korean Council for University Education."
