A team composed of Chung-Ang University (CAU) students was selected as one of the top 6 at the “Hult Prize” Boston Summit, a global startup idea competition.

The team included Seon Yunsung, a senior student from the School of Business Administration, Song Seunghoon, a junior student from the Department of Applied Statistics, and Lee Seungheon, a senior student from the College of Art & Technology. They won the grand prize at the “Hult Prize on Campus” hosted by CAU in January this year, and were qualified to participate in the Boston Summit.

Three students presented a creative idea called “water-soluble, green packaging material that can be used to wash fruit.” It received high praise as an innovation that could help solve environmental problems, which also led them to the significant achievement of being in the top 6 of the Hult Prize.

The Hult Prize, known as the “Nobel Prize for college students,” is an international competition that discovers university student teams aiming to solve social problems through social entrepreneurship. The competition, which gives out USD 1 million for the first-place winner, is co-hosted by Hult International Business School and the United Nations. Every year, many college students from all over the world participate in the competition.

The three students, who participated in the competition with the support of the CAU LINC Project Group, plan to continue exploring various research and projects for a sustainable environment.

Team leader Song Seunghoon, said, “We were able to learn and grow so much through the Hult Prize. We are glad to showcase our ideas on a bigger stage.”

Other team members, Lee and Seon, said, “We are very happy to see the fruits of our efforts with our team members. We hope that our ideas for a sustainable society will be helpful to many people. We will continue to seek innovative solutions to environmental problems.”
