The Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film CAU Heralds Its Active Engagement at the Jeonju International Film Festival, “Proving Its K-Culture Competitiveness”

The works of the students from the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film, Chung-Ang University (CAU), will be shown to audiences at the Jeonju International Film Festival. They were featured in various categories, including feature-length competition, short-length competition, and special screening.

Eight works by the students of the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film will be screened at the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival, which opens on the 1st of next month. Dean Lee Changjae of the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film, and actor Yoo Jitae, who is currently participating in its doctoral program, will serve as program mentors and judges.


CAU has been producing works that highlight K-culture through the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film, the Educational Research Institute for the 4th Phase BK21 AI-Content Future Industry, and the OTT Content Specialization Group. Director Oh Jaewook's , which was produced with support from the graduate school, the institute, and the group, was selected for the Korean Short Film Competition, while Director Moon Jaewoong's was selected as a special screening entry for the Local Film Showcase. 


by Jeong Haeil, a doctorate program student, was selected for the Korean Feature Film Competition, and , a graduation work by Sung Jihye, a master’s program student who passed this year’s thesis preliminary screening, was selected for the Korean Cinema category. Director Son Taegyeom's , which received the Special Jury Award in the Korean Short Film Competition at the festival last year, will have a special screening in a barrier-free platform.


Dean Lee will participate as a mentor in the Jeonju Project, “Work in Progress,” a consulting support program for post-production activities. It aims to increase the level of completion of feature-length independent art films that are in the finishing stage, and to help strengthen their performance in terms of domestic and international distribution.


 

Yoo Jitae


Actor Yoo Jitae, currently a doctorate program student in film production at the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film, will be active in various fields. Apart from being appointed as a judge in the international competition section, his three short films, including , produced in collaboration with students of the graduate school, were officially invited to the Korean Cinema section, revealing his capabilities as a director. , in which he stars, was selected for “J Special: Programmer of the Year,” so he will also attend the festival as an actor. 


Park Jinwan, director of the Education Research Institute for the 4th Phase BK21 AI-Content Future Industry, said, “I am delighted that our school’s excellent works were selected for the Jeonju International Film Festival, one of Korea’s representative film festivals. I’m looking forward to their performances at the festival.


Kim Takhoon, director of the OTT Content Specialization Group, said, “It is very rewarding to see the works that received our product support being invited to major film festivals. We will continuously provide active support in the future.”


Dean Lee said, “Our outstanding students will play a major role in raising the status of our school beyond the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film at the Jeonju International Film Festival. We will exert greater efforts to provide better education and a more conducive environment for film production.”
