San Francisco State University (SFSU) and Chung-Ang University (CAU) have agreed to join forces and further strengthen the cooperative relationship of the two universities.

On the 5th of April, SFSU officials visited CAU to further strengthen the existing cooperation system, including student exchange, and to broaden its scope.

Visiting SFSU officials included Vice President Amy Sueyosh, Dean Alex Hwu, and Dean Young Kim of the College of Professional & Global Education. CAU, on the other hand, were represented by President Park Sang-Gue, Provost Park Gwangyong of the College of Humanities Academic Services Team, Executive VP for Administration Lee Chan-gyu, Director Woo Soohan of the Office of International Affairs, and Head Shin Joongbeom of the International Affairs Team.

SFSU is part of the 23 campuses of Cal State University (CSU), one of the two major state university systems in California. A historic university that was established in 1899, SFSU is well known for its strengths in engineering courses, including computer engineering.

SFSU signed its first student exchange agreement with CAU in 1996. Since then, a total of 200 students have been exchanged between the two schools over the years, and an active cooperation system has been in place over the past three years.

VP Sueyosh said, “The majority of SFSU’s students are people of color who do not have the opportunity to study at universities abroad. The active student exchange partnership with Chung-Ang University is very valuable to SFSU.”

President Park said, “As a result of the smooth cooperation over the past 20 years, the number of exchange students with SFSU ranks first among the 23 Cal State University (CSU) campuses. We hope to continue our friendly cooperative relationship with SFSU in the future.”
