Chung-Ang University, Seoul Institute of the Arts, Ewha Womans University, KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), and Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts) have joined hands to achieve the common goal of nurturing professionals who will drive the growth of K-culture.
On May 10th, the Agreement Ceremony for Nurturing Arts and Cultural Content Industry Professionals was held at the Seoul Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The ceremony was attended by President of Chung-Ang University Park Sang-Gue, President of Seoul Institute of the Arts Yoo Tay Guhn, President of Ewha Womans University Kim Eun Mee, President of KAIST Lee Kwang Hyung, and President of K-Arts Kim Daejin. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Bo Gyoon also attended to congratulate and support universities establishing cooperation.
The ceremony proceeded in the order of Attendee introduction, Remarks by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Remarks by each university president, and a commemorative photo shoot.
The five universities agreed organic cooperation is crucial for nurturing multi-disciplinary leadership in the arts and cultural content industry.
Kim Daejin, President of K-Arts stated, "Cultural and artistic strength continues to grow, which is one of the most essential aspects of Korea today. I believe creativeness can be manifested in various, multi-disciplinary endeavors, making this agreement of enormous value.'"
This agreement laid the foundations for the five universities to exchange basic and applied arts, train cultural arts and contents professionals, research cultural arts and contents, manage industry-academic programs, cooperate for the development of K-culture, and strengthen the cultural arts and contents ecosystem.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Bo Gyoon stated, "The world is taking its hats off for the value of the Korean content industry," and expressed his commitment to supporting the development of the next generation of leaders in the field, given the Millennial Generation and Gen Z's strong passion and interest in it.
President Park expressed his hope that the partnership between the universities would foster synergies in various fields, such as Hallyu, education, and industries, and provide opportunities for high-quality research and education that utilizes each university's unique characteristics. He added, "I expect we can develop cultural content that will continue to garner attention for Hallyu."
