Lee Minji of Department of Computer Science was announced as one of the winners of Apple’s WWDC20 Swift Student Challenge.

Apple’s Swift Student Challenge is a program designed to recognize and support the next generations of coders and creators from all around the world. This year, six Korean students were announced as one of the winners of the submission.

Every year, Apple chooses 350 winners for the program and among them, two were from Korea last year while one Korean student became a winner two years ago.

Lee was recognized for her work designed to help students interested in music learn coding more easily by integrating the basic concept of coding and learning how to play the piano. She said it was the 2018 IOS winter break special session held at CAU where she first learned Swift programming.

“I’m pleased to become one of the winners with my submission that I worked on for almost a week, staying up all night. I think coming up with creative ideas is more important than showing good coding skills. So I hope other students not be afraid of participating in the submission,” she said.
