Prof. Kim Won-hee and 4th grade student You Se-sun of School of Energy Systems Engineering, College of Engineering published their research results in the SCIE-indexed Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology (July 2019, Volume 14) with a title “Extended State Observer Based Robust Position Tracking Control for DC Motor with External Disturbance and System Uncertainties.”

DC servo motors widely used in industrial applications have a number of problems to be used as a servo control method due to its friction and system uncertainties. Furthermore, position, speed and sensors are needed to improve its position tracking control. To overcome such issues, the research team proposed a new DC motor model and proved the effectiveness of a new control algorithm they designed to improve DC motors’ position control function by using position sensors only.
You Se-sun who joined Prof. Kim’s team in 2018 said, “I really thank Prof. Kim for guiding me throughout the entire process of our research. I will continue to work hard at graduate school next year to produce quality research outcomes.”
