CAU and Cannes Lions Korea joined hands for the university community and the promotion of creativity industry.
On the 4th of September, the 'CAU Media Center - Cannes Lions MOU Signing Ceremony' took place in the Innovation Strategy Meeting Room on the 3rd floor of Building 201 (Main Hall) at the Seoul Campus.
The ceremony included the following agenda: ▲ Declaration of Opening ▲ Speech by the Representative of Cannes Lions Korea ▲ Speech by the Executive Vice President for Administration of CAU ▲ Speech by the Head of the Media Center ▲ Signing of the agreement ▲ and a Commemorative Photo session. Attendees included our university officials, such as the Executive Vice President of Administration Lee Chan-Kyu and Head of the Media Center Seong Min-Jung, as well as Lee Seong-Bok, the Representative of Cannes Lions Korea.
Through the agreement, the Media Center and Cannes Lions Korea have decided to establish a close cooperation system for the development of the media and creativity industries in our country. They will collaborate on utilizing media platforms, co-producing and sharing content, and will also provide internship opportunities for students who have gained experience at the Media Center.
The Media Center is a department that is in charge of CAU's media organizations, including the CAU Newspaper, CAU Broadcasting Station (UBS), Chung-Ang Herald, and the Graduate School Newspaper. Based on this agreement with Cannes Lions, the Media Center plans to unify the capabilities of these university media outlets to launch the university's first 24-hour broadcasting system.
Cannes Lions, which has signed an agreement with our university, is often referred to as the "Olympics of Advertising" and is recognized as one of the top three advertising festivals in the world; it refers to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, a prestigious international advertising festival in France that has recently changed its official name to encompass not only advertising but also the broader field of creativity.
Cannes Lions Korea, the Korean office of Cannes Lions, is currently hosting a variety of events, including the country’s representative creativity festival 'Cannes Lions x Seoul,' as well as awards, seminars, and competitions. They are dedicated to ensuring that the diverse creativity content gathered through Cannes Lions is widely spread in Korea.
Lee Seong-Bok, the representative of Cannes Lions Korea, said, "I believe that the agreement with CAU will provide many opportunities for both institutions. I hope that sharing of content with Cannes Lions will contribute to the development of media in CAU."
Lee Chan-Kyu, Executive Vice President for Administration, stated, "CAU is a university that possesses excellent competitiveness not only in the fields of culture and arts but also in media and content. Through this agreement, I will spare no effort in providing full support to ensure that the CAU Media Center and its affiliated media outlets to become a university broadcasting station that serves as a significant role in the media field.”
