Chung-Ang University (CAU) holds its centennial celebration and new vision proclamation ceremony at Olympic Park Handball Stadium on October 10th, 2018 (Wed).
6,000 CAU members from all walks of life–alumni, students, faculty and staff including Chairman Park Yong-hyun of CAU Educational Foundation, President Kim Chang-soo of CAU, and Chairman Kim Jung-tae of CAU Alumni Association–attended the event.
The event was proceeded in the following order: preliminary program (13:00~16:00.), centennial celebration and new vision proclamation ceremony (16:00~16:50), talk session on CAU’s 100-year history (16:50~17:30), and commemorative performance (17:30~18:30). KBS announcer Seo Gi-cheol, MBC reporter Park Sae-am, and entertainer Kang Sung-bum, all of whom graduated from CAU, presided over the ceremony.
President Kim Chang-soo expressed an ambition in his commemorative speech, saying “Chung-Ang University aims to contribute to human society, going beyond the national education institution. At this critical junction, I am honored to announce our university’s new vision called “CAU 2030.” Our university will carry on the great legacy of CAU alumni and spare no effort to build a brighter future.”
CAU graduates in a variety of circles–not just key figures in the political and governmental sectors including Yoo Yong-tae, Lee Jae-oh, but famous celebrities such as Jeong Bo-seok, Ko So-young, Ko A-ra, Kim Tae-woo, Park Ji-hoon, Son Hyun-joo, Yoo In-young, Lee Beom-Su, Jo Woo-ri, and Joo Da-young–graced CAU’s event with their presence.
One CAU student who participated in the event said, “It was particularly meaningful for me to meet outstanding CAU graduates who raise CAU’s standing on the national stage and celebrate our university’s centenary with them. Unlike my expectation, the event was more of a joyful celebration than of a formal occasion.”
