A joint language exchange program was hosted by Chung-Ang University (CAU)’s Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS), led by Dean Chun Sun-eae, on May 11th, 2018 (Fri) at CAU’s Law School Building. Seoul GSIS Union had been established in May of 2018, and this event was held as part of its activities. Six member graduate schools take turns to offer language programs to foreign students who are interested in learning Korean language. This time, CAU served as a host university, in which Guo Rui and Hyung Jin-sun of CAU’s International Studies Program (ISP) chaired the event, and Kim Sang-wook and Song Min-jae of CAU’s Advanced Interpretation & Translation Program (AITP) gave a presentation. Any Korean students who desire to engage in language exchange with foreign students were able to attend.

CAU’s GSIS provided the language exchange program under the theme of “Learning Korean Language.” Foreign students had a chance to learn Korean expressions according to different situations (e.g. at school, at the hospital, at the restaurant, on the tourist site, and so forth). And afterwards, foreign students enjoyed recreational activities, where they took part in quiz sessions such as “Reading numbers in Korean” and “Guessing Korean words” and won prizes.

Lastly, foreign students formed a team and practiced what they had learned through an open discussion with Korean students. This event provided foreign participants an opportunity to not only practice Korean language, but also build up meaningful memories through the exchange activity.
