Chung-Ang University (CAU)’s School of Computer Science and Engineering and School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering were selected as excellent university in 2017 University Ranking from the Industry’s perspective, hosted by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and organized by the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE).

The university ranking from the industry’s perspective was first designed in 2008 by the MOE and KCUE to meet the demand of five major economic organizations that universities should take the industry’s need into consideration when providing education. And since then, the ranking has been announced by the MOE and KCUE. This year, 166 departments in the architecture (construction), civil engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive, and shipbuilding & marine engineering fields across the nation were surveyed. 2,027 companies took part in the survey while executive and staff members of 39 companies including Kakao, LG Electronics, and Coson gave a direct response.

2017 university ranking consisted of mainly three evaluation parts: (i) establishment of curriculum that reflects the need of the industry (30%), (ii) operation of such curriculum (50%), and (iii) performance of such curriculum operation (20%). CAU’s School of Computer Science and Engineering was honored with the excellence award in all three parts while the School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering won the excellence award in two parts of operation of such curriculum and performance of such curriculum operation.

Excellence award-winning universities received the certification plaque, jointly presented by the MOE, the KCUE, and five major economic organizations. In addition, theses economic organizations will recommend its member companies to give an advantage to those who graduate the excellence award-winning universities during the job application process.
