Chung-Ang University (CAU)’s Department of International Logistics sent representative students to the ASEAN Youth In Action (AYIA), in which ten ASEAN universities took part. This learning program, supported by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund, aims to enhance mutual understanding and promote cooperation, where both Korean and ASEAN students participate in the on-the-job training at companies in ASEAN nations including the Philippines and Indonesia.

In Korea, students of CAU’s Department of International Logistics, which has established the cooperative relationship with Singapore Polytechnic for a long time, attended the AYIA business training program. The AYIA offered the on-the-job training two times for a period between 2017 and 2018. The first training program was implemented for one month in September 2017, and the second one was carried out in the Philippines and Indonesia for one month in March 2018. A total of 56 students took part in the second training program, and from CAU, six students together with Prof. Lee Gun-woo of the Department of International Logistics attended.

Students, who participate in this program, not only identify a new business item that can be brought to the local market, but have a chance to understand the process from business development, to distribution and logistics planning, to commercialization through the on-the-job training. In doing so, Korean students can better understand ASEAN nations and establish a cooperative relationship with ASEAN students who will play a bigger role in the global economy.
