Chung-Ang University (CAU) student named Lee Do-hyeon, who completed Biomedical Engineering program of the School of Integrative Engineering, the College of ICT Engineering, CAU and graduated in Feb 2018, made a great achievement, in which he can participate in the integrated Master’s and doctoral program at the U.S. Michigan State University Graduate School with a full scholarship.

Lee built on research experiences through the participation in an undergraduate internship program under the leadership of Prof. Choi Jong-hoon during one year before graduation. Based on his research activities, Lee came to publish more than two research papers as an author in SCI-level academic journals.

It was found, in the process of the graduate school interview, that his experience in the undergraduate internship program and the relevant achievement served as a key driver to enable the admission into Michigan State University Graduate School.

Michigan State University, with a long history, is well-known as one of the prestigious state universities in the U.S. Furthermore, joining the biomedical engineering program of the university is highly competitive, since this field is known to be most promising in the U.S.

Lee’s advisor, Prof. Choi Jong-hoon, said, “CAU’s medical engineering program consists of relatively younger and more active faculty members compared to other Korean universities. We have been overachieving in the research field. I believe that professors’ enthusiasm, together with Lee’s effort from the early days of his undergraduate program at CAU, led him to successfully enter the U.S. prestigious university. CAU’s medical engineering program, notwithstanding its short history, has a brighter future ahead. It is because more outstanding students like Lee would lead by example and give juniors in the program a sense of pride.”
