CAU Holds the 12th AMCHAM Innovative Camp

The 12th AMCHAM Innovative Camp – Chung-Ang University (CAU)’s mentoring program – was held at Room B501 of Building 310, also known as Centennial Hall, at 2 p.m. on November 17th, 2017 (Friday). President Kim Chang-soo and Provost Ryu Joong-seok of CAU, ten mentors from The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea), including Chairman James Kim, and approximately 200 CAU students attended this mentoring program.

The order of this program was as follows: a welcoming speech, delivered by President Kim Chang-soo of CAU; a congratulatory speech, delivered by Chairman James Kim of AMCHAM Korea; a congratulatory speech, delivered by Vice President for Planning and Management Park Soon-hwan of Human Resources Development Service of Korea; CEO lecture series; and taking questions and giving answers. And afterwards, one-on-one mentoring was offered by ten members from AMCHAM Korea.


President Kim Chang-soo said, in his welcoming speech, “First of all, I would like to extend my gratitude to mentors and our students for participating in this meaningful event. The global market becomes more important for further boosting the Korean economy. … I hope that today’s event gives our students an opportunity to gear themselves for playing a key role on the global stage and set ambitious goals for building a better future.”

Chairman James Kim delivered his message in his congratulatory speech, saying, “Mentors –consisting of global business leaders – gathered today to offer insightful advice based on a variety of business experiences to CAU students. I hope that this advice serves as a stepping stone to getting a job at global firms in the future.”

During CEO lecture series session, President Michael Conlan of Amer Sports Korea, Representative Director Jeon Jung-hweon of DXC Technology Korea Office, and Colm Flanagan, the head of Seoul Foreign School, highlighted the importance of competence and experience, a key to successfully getting a job at global companies.

This year marks the 12th year of AMCHAM Innovative Camp, and this program was organized to enhance global competitiveness of CAU students by providing an opportunity to meet with CEOs and executive members of US leading businesses and receiving advice from them.
