CAU Prof. Sohn Uy-dong and Prof. Na Dong-hee Receive Academic Research Award from the Pharmaceutical Society of Korea

Prof. Sohn Uy-dong and Prof. Na Dong-hee of the College of Pharmacy, Chung-Ang University (CAU) were honored with the academic research award at 2017 Fall International Convention of the Pharmaceutical Society of Korea (PSK), held on Oct 19th-20th, 2017. Prof. Sohn received the Education Award from the PSK in recognition of contributing to educational development in the pharmaceutical sector while and Prof. Na received the Young Pharmacologist Award for his research paper recently published in Nature Nanotechnology.



Prof. Sohn dedicated 32 years to development of the academia, serving as the executive director of a research initiative for better selecting subjects of pharmaceutical licensing examination in six-year pharmacy educational system, the leader of BK research team, the dean of the College of Pharmacy, CAU, and the chairman of both the Korean Society of Pharmacology (KOSPHAR) and the PSK. Besides, he has contributed to making progress in pharmacy education and research over the last 32 years while serving as a member of the Pharmacy Development Committee, both a member and the executive board director of the Special Committee for Continuous Education–both of which are under the Korean Pharmaceutical Association (KPA), the director of the Korean Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, and the director of the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute. On top of this, he published a total of 270 research papers, and out of them, approximately 190 papers were released in SCI-level journals. He also has served as an editorial board member of four journals listed in Journal Citation Report (JCR) as well as the chairman of the Korean Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology (KJPP) editorial board. At the awards ceremony, Prof. Sohn expressed his ambition, saying, “First of all, my deepest appreciation goes to those who helped me including my students. From now on, I will continue to dedicate myself to further development of education and research in the pharmaceutical field.” 



Prof. Na has conducted research projects on both PEGylation of peptides and proteins for developing a biobetter drug and development of a nanomedicine with the utilization of dendrimers. He delivered fruitful results by recently publishing a research achievement entitledCharacterization of the reversed-phase chromatographic behavior of PEGylated peptides based on the poly (ethylene glycol) dispersity in Analytical Chemistry (IF 6.320) and another research achievement entitled Nanostructured glycan architecture is important in the inhibition of influenza A virus infection in Nature Nanotechnology (IF 38.986).
