According to the rules of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, students will be reported to the Immigration Office within two weeks to prevent illegal stay in Korea when:

  • they are not enrolled during the specified period or when they take a leave of absence;
  • they are absent from their classes often or show poor academic achievement;
  • they no longer appear to have the intention of studying in cases such as dismissal, expulsion from the school, graduation, or absence without leave;
  • they violate the immigration laws, such as obtaining illegal employment or breaching the civil law;
  • they are focusing on employment rather than study; or
  • they are attempting to earn money to cover their tuition and living expenses.
