CAU Touted as Exemplary Institution in University-Industry Cooperation
CAU won six awards at the 2016 University-Industry Cooperation EXPO
Chung-Ang University’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and LINC(Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation) won six awards at the 2016 University-Industry Cooperation EXPO sponsored by the Korea’s Ministry of Education and co-hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
Among other things, Director of CAU LINK, Kim Wonyong was awarded Official Commendation of Education Minister for excellence in professional training.
“Over the past two years, we have worked tirelessly to establish a startup support model. From Creative Studio, Creative Factory, to Creative Complex, our model is to provide a comprehensive support package for students with creative ideas. Many thanks for all wonderful comments and awards. We will continue raising funds and developing great programs to support student startups”, said Director Kim.
CAU also won the best case industry-academy cooperation awards over 40 other institutions thanks to the originality and quality of its project with its affiliate. CAU LINC has supported its affiliate, Taktoon Enterprise, setting an example of successful industry-academy cooperation in the field of the humanities, Arts and Culture. Since the Ministry of Education puts much importance on such areas, expectations for CAU LINC is getting higher.
“We will expand our cooperation with enterprises to new areas, beyond the traditional field of science and engineering“, said head of LINC Business Support Center Chang Seungwhan.
Also on the list of award winner is CAU BRIDGE(Beyond Research Innovation and Development for Good Enterprise). It’s CAU-TTC(Technology Connecting Conference) was awarded Best Program for its creative planning at the contest held as part of 2016 BRIDGE Festival. In addition, one of CAU’s affiliates won a participation prize in the category of creative funds.
CAU students were not an exception. Four students(Lee Jeong-ho, Lee Yoong-yeol, Kim Min-gi, Nam Soo-rin) who attended CAU LINC-organized class, CAU Campus Mayor, won a participation prize at Capstone Design Awards for their project titled, ” Team Flower Play”. CAU LINC have long made efforts to support local communities and students. It was the moment their efforts bore fruit.
Mr. Lee Yoongyeol said, “We were able to come up with great and practical ideas thanks to our professors and community mentors who took their valuable time to encourage us and work with us.”
Last but not least, CAU school based enterprise Ari won a Best Participation Award for its gayageum (traditional Korean zither-like string inst) program during the EXPO. Ari successfully promoted their industry-academic cooperation project by encouraging visitors to play their instruments.
Director of CAU LINK Kim Wonyong who oversees projects under CAU Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, LINC and school based enterprises said, “I am so grateful to receive these awards. So happy to know that our efforts over the past few years have been recognized by national organizations like the Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation of Korea. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the CAU people who contributed to our success and accomplishments. We will continue to strive for excellence and to be the best.”
CAU Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and LINC have led the way in training young entrepreneurs and supporting enterprises. Expectations are high for their continued advancement.
The University-Industry Cooperation EXPO, sponsored by the Korea’s Ministry of Education and co-hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, is the largest events in the field of university–industry cooperation. In every October, the EXPO features various programs such as best outcome exhibition, LINC festival, BRIDGE festival, student startup festival, capstone auction market, school-based enterprises’ programs.
